Impressions
What is Impressions?
Impressions are the total number of times a piece of content is displayed on screen, counting every instance including multiple views by the same person. Because impressions count repeat exposures, they are always equal to or greater than reach for the same content.
When you'd use it
- 1When you want to measure total content visibility including repeat views from the same user.
- 2When assessing how often a video appeared in feeds, regardless of whether it was clicked.
- 3When evaluating the volume of exposure a paid promotion delivered.
- 4When comparing the display frequency of two posts published at different times.
- 5When tracking brand visibility during a campaign period.
Example
A video for a sportswear brand generated 420,000 impressions from 280,000 accounts of reach over a one-week period, meaning the average viewer was exposed to the video 1.5 times. The brand used this data to confirm the content had been distributed beyond its existing audience.
Use cases
- 1Measuring total displays of a brand awareness video to understand how broadly it appeared in feeds.
- 2Comparing impression volume between a trending-format post and a standard post to assess algorithmic lift.
- 3Reporting campaign-level impression totals to demonstrate content exposure across a launch period.
Make on-brand short-form video from the footage you already have.
